The Makeover Project Design Competition

kellie_poster

What is the design competition?

It’s an exciting opportunity to come up with a name and logo for the planned new facilities at St Mark’s church.

The competition is open to anyone who might like to use the community facilities. We’ll have winners in categories from pre-school to senior citizens and the finalists have a chance of having their name and design adopted for the completed facilities.

The name and logo need to appeal to the community. They need to show that the facilities at St Mark’s can be used separately to the church, ie that they are a community centre in their own right.
At the same time, it is important to keep St Mark’s in the mix. For example, <<name>>@St Mark’s might be a good starting point, but this is just a suggestion and we hope it will not restrict thinking on any entries to the competition.
Entrance to the competition is free, though donations to the Makeover fund are welcome. The really fun bit is that we’re encouraging entries in all media, so feel free to inspire us with paint, charcoal, mosaics, clay and any other materials that can possibly be used.

What are the categories?

A: pre-school (up to 4 years).
B: reception (4-5 years).
C: primary (5-11 years).
D: secondary (11-16 years).
E: sixth form (16-18 years).
F: young students (18-25 years).
G: everyone else up to 60 years.
H: 60+ years.

How do we take part?

Please fill out the entry form, and make sure it's attached to every entry. Then submit them to the Church Office in an envelope marked ' ST. MARKS ID & LOGO COMPETITION' by 31 May 2010. Alternatively email your designs with the completed entry form to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

What is the entry closing date?

31 May 2010. By using a long entry period, we are hoping that school groups will be able to take part as an ongoing project with the support of their teachers.

What happens then?

A panel will judge all entries. This will be made up of local celebrities, artists, brand designers and communications experts.
All finalists – one winner per category – will have their work exhibited at a preview evening at St Mark’s.

What is the Makeover Project?

What is the Makeover Project? Launched in June 2009, The Makeover Project is an ambitious five-year redevelopment plan to create a significantly improved community facility adjacent to and in St Mark’s Church, Bathurst Gardens, NW10 5HX.

The area in which St Mark’s is located lacks community facilities and the buildings in which to host them. With new improved facilities, St Mark’s will build on existing partnerships with community groups to benefit all ages. The benefits will stretch far beyond the Church congregation to the whole local community. For that reason, the whole community is encouraged to help us on our fundraising journey.

The project will raise money to fund the redevelopment work. The targets are challenging, but we are off to a good start: at the time of launch, there was £90,000 in hand.
