The home groups are made up of a few people who meet together on a regular basis in a group member's home. Currently, we have several home groups. Most meet every two weeks on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and at a variety of times. Crèche facilities are available at the Tuesday morning home group.
Each home group has its own distinct character, but generally the members come together to:
-
read and reflect on passages of the Bible - often using a study guide
-
consider the real life issues for us which these passages can speak to us about
-
share our experiences and our questions in the light of our discussions
-
pray for each other, and
-
offer support and encouragement to each other.

The Creative Home Group
At times throughout the year the Church building at St Mark's is made even more alive because of the work of the members of the creative home group. Their contributions such as the nativity scene, and the striking, beautiful and thought provoking pillar displays really help our worship. Diane Stone leads this group and says: 'We are a small group who meet to bring alive the season's of the Church's year through decorating the Church. We made a display for harvest and had themes running through Advent and Lent with the aim to allow people to use their visual senses to reflect as they saw the changes that took place.’
They meet on the first Tuesday of every month from 7.30 - 9pm.
The Reading Group
An informal gathering of people who enjoy sharing good food and our thoughts on a book that we have agreed to read. It meets at the home of the hosts Sue and Andy Bush in a warm welcoming atmosphere.
Sue reflects on some of the books the group has discussed: 'We have read the challenging book The Way Forward? Christian Voices on Homosexuality and the Church. We followed that with Adrian Plass' book, The Unlocking, an encouraging book subtitled 'God's plan for frightened people', addressing insecurities and reassuring us of God's plans and provision for us. We have also read Waging Peace on Islam, which has introduced us to much we didn't know about Islam' "The Reading Group is great for those of us who like to be stretched in our faith; our thinking; being resourced and challenged about how we live out our faith." For information about when the group is next meeting please speak to Sue Bush on 020 8965 3723
